All across New Jersey there were reports of flooding, toppled trees and massive power outages affecting nearly 500,000 households with as much as eight inches of rain expected to come.
While millions of Jersey and east coast residents are sitting in homes without electricity, which they cannot leave due to flooded and unsafe roads, let us breathe a sigh of relief that the cast of Jersey Shore (Snooki, Vinny, Deena and Sammi) are fine. The cast hopped a last minute private jet from New Jersey to Los Angeles last night for the MTV Video Music Awards.
"We had to get out here for the VMAs," Vinny told MTV News after touching down in Los Angeles. "MTV did whatever they could to get us out here.”Several state governors requested the Shore cast remain on the east coast to act as self-inflating sandbags against sea walls and for access to their armory of industrial strength hairspray to repair last night’s leak in the Holland Tunnel, but "the cast wouldn't have missed the VMAs for the world," Vinny told MTV.
If you are one of the 12 people on the east coast with electricity and your evening plans don’t include mopping out three inches of water from your basement or clearing toppled trees off of your minivan, the 28th annual MTV Video Music Awards will air live tonight at 9 p.m. ET/PT.
