Wanted: Captain John Lasseter, Disneyland 1977

By , Editor
Having grown up in SoCal in the '60s and early '70s, I am a sucker still for all things Disneyland. I love the other Disney theme parks, but nothing is quite the same as the original.

Back in 1977, after I had already moved to Ohio, John Lasseter, before becoming chief creative officer at Walt Disney and Pixar Animation Studios and principal creative advisor for Walt Disney Imagineering, worked at Disneyland as skipper of the Jungle Cruise attraction.

Now, Disney is on the hunt for a verifiable photo of the director of such iconic Disney/Pixar flicks such as Toy Story, Toy Story 2, and Cars as the skipper of the Jungle Cruise from 1977, and the first to turn one in will win a trip for four to the grand opening of Cars Land at Disneyjohn-lasseter-1983.jpg California Adventure in summer 2012, and a ride on the Jungle Cruise skippered by the dude himself.

So bust out those old vacation photos from Disneyland, '77, and maybe you'll be the one who stumbles across photographic evidence of Captain John chatting up the cannibals or shooting the hippo.
