“I am thrilled with the spectacular, fresh talent we have discovered this [past] season,” stated Nigel Lythgoe, SYTYCD executive producer and co-creator, in an official Fox press release, “I believe these dancers have inspired the choreographers to create remarkable dance numbers each week.” If the live tour, produced by 19 Entertainment and Dick Clark Productions, didn’t make it to your city last year, there are 15 more stops throughout the U.S. and Canada (see itinerary here).
So You Think You Can Dance has racked up 11 Primetime Emmy Awards since its 2005 inception. This year’s top ten finalists include winner Ricky Ubeda and (beginning with the first runner-up and working downward in order of their elimination from the series) Valerie Rockey, Jessica Richens, Zack Everhart, Jr., Casey Askew, Jacque LeWarne, Rudy Abreu, Tanisha Belnap, Emilio Dosal, and Bridget Whitman. SYTYCD has helped launch many careers over the years and the Season 11 finalists hope to utilize the exposure to make industry-related aspirations come true. For instance, according to official press materials, Bridget Whitman has an interest in becoming a performing arts physical therapist, while Casey Askew hope to inspire someday as a dance instructor.
