When Disney bought Jim Henson's Muppets property back in 2004, you knew they weren't going to sit around and let the beloved characters molder forever.
After slowly ramping up, The Muppets are about to return with a vengeance with a major motion picture (as they say) of the same name, written by and starring Jason Segel, along with Amy Adams, Kermit the Frog, Miss Piggy, Fozzie Bear, Gonzo, Animal, Chris Cooper; with cameos by Mila Kunis, Donald Glover, Leslie Feist, Mickey Rooney, Alan Arkin, Rob Corddry, Dave Grohl, Kristen Schaal, Ricky Gervais, Kathy Griffin, Billy Crystal, Ken Jeong, Sarah Hyland, Sterling Knight, Neil Patrick Harris, Whoopi Goldberg, James Carville, Rico Rodriguez, Selena Gomez, Danny Trejo, Wanda Sykes, Judd Hirsh, John Krasinski and Jim Parsons.
The plot has to do with reuniting the Muppets for a telethon to save the Muppets Theater from the nefarious clutches of oilman Tex Richman and the hijinx that ensues. The whole affair spills over into theaters on November 23.
And if that isn't enough Muppetry, Muppets: The Green Album with performances by OK GO, Weezer, My Morning Jacket, and The Fray on classic Muppet tunes was released today on Walt Disney Records.
