The Duchess of Cambridge wore a stunning teal blue gown on Friday night at the Royal Albert Hall in London to mark the countdown to the Olympic Games. But unknown to her adoring public, Kate was actually wearing a wedding dress, customised for the night!
The gown is by Jenny Packham, one of Kate’s favourite designers, and was originally created as a wedding dress costing £2875 in ivory or platinum. The style is called ‘Aspen’ and it is much sought after by brides-to be. Sizes start at UK 8 - and I noticed that Kate looked better in that than in some tiny size 6 outfits she is reputed to have worn in the past. (Some say she is a size 4 - US size zero, but I doubt it, as that would make her seriously underweight.)
Kate accessorised her ensemble with some new diamond/diamante drop earrings and her favourite Jimmy Choo high-heeled evening sandals that she had worn to a private dinner earlier in the week.
To show off the delicate lace over her bare back, Kate had an unusual and rather complicated uplifted chignon hairstyle — very elegant.
There is no doubt that in just over a year, Kate has become the world’s number one trendsetter and is unafraid to try out new styles. The once shy girl is now a confident royal.
