As my rotation in Kenya comes to a close, I know that the work here and throughout the world to help kids live healthy lives has only just begun. Inspired, humbled, moved and ready to Run for Something Better in Nairobi and in New York, I say farewell to the Chebaiywa Clinic, Edward and Michelle.
Today I am angry at what I saw here in Kenya. Perhaps it is because I come from a country where health care for every citizen is a right for both the poor and the rich. Or maybe the Hippocratic Oath just means something different here in Kenya.
Inspired by the children of Kenya, moved by the unending generosity of the people working to better the community and my heart broken by the death of a patient, my time in Africa is filled with meaning.
A trip to my friend Edward's farm in Kapsabet this last week was an inspiring opportunity to learn about sustainable agriculture in Africa, enjoy the best meal I've had yet, and the precious opportunity to witness a touching family reunion.
