First Two Emerson, Lake & Palmer Albums to Be Reissued In Remixed Three-Disc Deluxe Editions

ELP's follow-up works through Welcome Back My Friends... will also be remixed and reissued in three-disc Deluxe Editions

Beginning with the music of Porcupine Tree, band member, Steven Wilson, created not only great music to listen to but also aural masterpieces.  Having released his band's albums on the once revered high resolution format known as DVD-Audio, it didn't take long for Fripp of King Crimson fame to take notice.

Steven Wilson has remastered multiple classic King Crimson albums and last year, Wilson was involved in a remix of the beloved Jethro Tull 1971 classic Aqua Lung.  In short, Wilson' remix of that album was nothing short of revelatory, perhaps even paving the way for a new method of refreshing beloved albums form the past.

It has been recently announced that Steven Wilson would be responsible for the remix of two Emerson, Lake & Palmer albums, the eponymous Emerson, Lake & Palmer from 1970, and its follow-up, Tarkus, from 1971.

Not long ago, Shout! Factory had reissued remastered versions the entire ELP catalog.  And they were, in fact, good.  But if Steven Wilson is going to redo your albums... well, you step aside and let him have at it, trusting that they will be revitalized to the greatest degree.

On September 11, Razor & Tie Records will release the US issue of Emerson, Lake & Palmer, and Tarkus, both in three-disc Deluxe Editions (Two-CD/One DVD) that will include the original album remastered, while the second CD will add alternate version bonus tracks and the 2012 Stereo mixes of the album.  The DVD will house 2012 5.1 mixes of each album, as well as the high-resolution 2012 Stereo mixes.  For our UK readers these will be released on September 10.

The sets will be released on LP and in DD formats as well.  If you pre-order the sets at the band's product website, you can purchase sets with tees bundles.

Even better, it has also been announced that Wilson will revisit Pictures At An Exhibition (1971); Trilogy (1972); Brain Salad Surgery (1973); and Welcome Back My Friends To The Show That Never Ends...Ladies and Gentlemen, Emerson, Lake & Palmer (1974), all in new remixed glory.  The dates for those albums are yet to be determined, but the reissues will stop there even though I'd like to see both Works sets given the same treatment. Perhaps in part  because those albums were considered by many to be excessive, perhaps even egotistical releases.

Enjoy the music as these Wilson reworks are sure to be the definitive versions of the previously named titles.
