Activision has announced that its next entry in the Skylanders video game franchise, Skylanders SuperChargers, will include local and online competitive multiplayer modes.

Up to four players will be able to compete in SuperChargers' Racing Mode, which will be playable in the game's Land, Sea and Sky environments. This option will include time trials and combat racing and players will be able to interact using voice chat.

We continue to be firmly committed to driving Skylanders' spirit for providing originality, innovation, creativity and fun with each game."

The Skylanders SuperChargers Starter Pack will come with six different race tracks that include hidden routes, power ups and diverse locations. In addition to online challenges, players can also compete in local split-screen two-person races.

Skylanders SuperChargers will also include the traditional Adventure Mode. This will be playable solo, as a co-operative challenge online or with a second player locally.

Activision will release Skylanders SuperChargers on September 20 in North America and September 25 in Europe for the Xbox One, Xbox 360, PlayStation3, PlayStation4 and Wii U. A separate game will be released for the Nintendo Wii and 3DS called Skylanders SuperChargers Racing. Gameplay options and achievements in this version will include multiple tracks, power-ups, boosts and hazards. The 3DS edition will also have competitive local and online multiplayer modes.
