As unbelievable as it seems in the wake of the Cheap Trick, Flaming Lips, and Sugarland stage collapses recently, there has been another tragic collapse, this time at the Pukkelpop Festival in the town of Hasselt, Belgium about 50 miles east of Brussels.
According to a report from the Associated Press, three concert goers have died and 71 were injured after a storm hit the open air festival. Video released for the site showed stage equipment dangling in furious winds, as rain-bashed festival goers ran for cover.
Reports say that 60,000 people were attending the event at the time of the event. The Fleet Foxes tweeted that they were all safe: "We are all safe at Pukkelpop. Crazy storm. This is awful. Hearts go out to all."
The Smith Westerns, who were also scheduled to perform, tweeted, "Stage collapsed max almost got crushed by trees. I hope pukkelpop has insurance bc all our shit is broken."
Neither of the bands reported any injured members.
