We thought the Flaming Lips Gummi skulls were expensive at $150 a pop. But at least with the six-pound glowing, fuchsia, marijuana-flavored blob you get a flash drive with new Lips music, and you could eat it. Now comes news that the Beastie Boys are selling a limited edition of the plastic action figures that were featured in the trio’s latest music video “Don’t Play No Game I Can’t Win.”
Yes, they did use real action figures in the vid, and somehow the light bulb went off to release a special set of commemorative figures produced by
NOWHERE LTD/A Bathing Ape for a whopping $750.
Each figurine stands at 11.5 inches and could probably beat the sh*t out of the Iggy action figure since it’s only a measly 6 ¾ inches. Iggy comes with his own mic stand and display stand, but to be worth that rather exorbitant price, the BB's figures comes housed in a 16-inch x 12-inch metal box with a whole wardrobe of accessories and clothing. And no, before you ask, it doesn’t include the infamous “Sabotage” Detective Kit.
"These are some real limited edition, explicit, bottle service/ v.i.p. type items. And no, we are not trying to take you for all your Mozarell," the group assures. Instead, the trio will be donating the proceeds to charity, all proceeds split between two children’s cancer organizations: Pablove Foundation and Alex’s Lemonade Stand.
