Back in 2012, with the release of Boys & Girls, the band called Alabama Shakes became quite a phenomenon with the blues/rock style that they champion. When Boys & Girls released, the band garnered three Grammy nominations for the 2013 sessions that included Best New Artist, which eventually went to the pop band fun., Best Rock Song Performance (with "Hold On"), which was lost to the Black Keys, and Best Recording Package.
Regardless of their losses at the Grammys, the Boys & Girls album went on to sell over a half million copies, acquiring an enviable gold record status. These days, that is not an easy feat — just ask many of the bands that try to get as far. Boys & Girls was buoyed by relentless touring, and a stunning pair of performances on Saturday Night Live that drew a lot of well-deserved attention.
April 21, ATO Records will release the next album from Alabama Shakes. The new album is being called Sound & Color, and will be issued in a completely black cover in stark contrast to their all white cover of Boys & Girls.
Sound & Color will be released on CD, DD, and vinyl LP (in a two-LP set). The new album will contain 12 new tracks. Of those 12, "Don't Wanna Fight" has been selected as the first single, and is available now. You can watch the YouTube promo video below.
