New Greatest Hits Package Expected for Eric Clapton

This new collection helps to shine a light on his Reprise Records years.

There is much to say about Eric Clapton. From his work with John Mayall's Bluesbreakers, The Yardbirds, Cream, Blind Faith, and Derek & The Dominoes to his extraordinary body of solo work, Eric Clapton has filled in every nook and cranny of his musical career with memorable creativity.

There are several labels that control his music. RSO controls the first fruits of the Clapton catalog that includes his second album, 461 Ocean Boulevard (1974), There's One In Every Crowd (1975), the stupendous party mix No Reason to Cry (1976), and his high-profile Slowhand (1977). The RSO grasp continues on through Another Ticket (1981), six in all. His eponymous debut from 1970 was issued via Atco Records. Most of the rest were released via Reprise Records (WBR).

Eric Clapton Forever Man.jpgOn April 28, Reprise Records will release two versions of a 'best of' set, Forever Man, to look back on a remarkable career. While the studio pieces found on Forever Man are from his Reprise records, there are live versions of his songs from prior to that affiliation to help lend an air of completion to the set. You will not see any RSO or Atco studio works on this set.

Forever Man will be released in both three-disc (with 52 track selections) and two-disc sets (with 33 track selections). Each set will contain booklets that feature liner notes from noted writer Malcolm Dome, as well as a collection of photos, credits, and other memorabilia.

Forever Man is expected to be issued in a two-LP set as well as the expected MP3 DD.
