will.i.am Phones It In, Taylor Swift Shows Him How

By , Contributor

The Black Eyed Peas have had a bad couple of weeks. First, Peas major domo will.i.am barely averted a huge faux pas after forgetting the lyrics to one of his band's songs on a live French TV show, Taratata.

In a mash-up of "Alors On Danse" and the Black Eyed Peas' latest single "Don't Stop the Party" with Belgian artist Stromae, the impeccably dressed singer was spotted slipping his cell phone out of his suit jacket, and using it as an ad hoc teleprompter during their hard charging duet. Did he just forget the words? It looks more like he knew he wasn't going to remember them, and had a copy of the lyrics written and ready for that very moment.

Why? Because he wasn't thumbing through azlyrics.com to find them, then he didn't show even the slightest twinge of embarrassment or lose his place in the rather intricate robotic choreography that accompanied the number. Take a gander at the video evidence yourself and let us know if you think. Does will.i.am really not know the lyrics to the song released last November?

If that wasn't bad enough, the Black Eyed Peas disappointed thousands of fans when they were forced to cancel their performance in New York's Central Park at the last minute because of the threat of violent thunderstorms and lightening strikes in the performance area. An estimated 20,000 fans waited in the rain to see the band perform a free concert when they got the news that the show had been canceled due to the bad weather. Organizers have promised they will reschedule, but so far haven't selected a make-up date.

Maybe will.i.am should take a tip from Taylor Swift. Last week the "You Belong With Me" singer closed out the CMA Music Fest in a gold strapless gown, a messy updo, and the lyrics to "Baby Girl" by Sugarland on an arm. They read: "Remember me in ribbons and curls. Love, your baby girl."

The willowy singer has been penning lyrics on her arm for some time to insure she won't forget them, and before a big show or an interview she also scribbles "13" on her arm for luck. Why? It's her lucky number and even appears as as part of her Twitter sign in @taylorswift13.
