NFL Sunday Ticket on PS3 off to Vexing Start

A $350 PS3 app nosedives in it debut

By , Contributor
It was supposed to be a great deal: NFL Sunday Ticket minus the Direct TV shenanigans, satellite, or subscription to Direct TV, and right on your PS3. It probably will be a great deal too... if it actually worked.

It seems the week one impressions were less than positive, those that forked over the $350 subscription fee unable to view the early slate of opening games. For some, video quality ranged from stuttering to unwatchable. For others, the app simply froze with no means of exit short of killing power to the system. How convenient. Afternoon games were reportedly better in terms of performance.

Sony will be issuing a $24.99 voucher to users who experienced the outage (i.e., everyone who subscribed) so it would seem likely the problem was on their end. However, users of Sunday Ticket to Go, the mobile/pad version of the service, also went through the same freezing and general quality issues.

Sounds more like a Direct TV problem in the end.
