Gift Atelier is the new site to go for that gorgeous little present for someone special. Its entrepreneurs - Martin Collett and Scott Simpson - are two uber-cool guys who really know how a little gift can make someone special feel loved and appreciated.
Martin’s experience in the charitable business sector and Scott’s in high end retail created the best possible fusion of talents for their new enterprise.
Both guys have great taste and an eye for quality but it is Scott’s career working for two of the biggest names in British style - Lady Bamford and Vivienne Westwood - that has driven forward Gift Atelier from concept to reality.
Scott says: ”I have been incredibly lucky: Lady Bamford has the most exquisite sense of style. Everything she selects, whether in her Daylesford Organic shops and cafes, or in her Bamford ranges, has the stamp of true luxury - understated but of marvellous quality. All I know about refinement, I owe to Lady Bamford and I am thrilled that she has agreed to allow Gift Atelier to include some of her fabulous products.
“Then working for Vivienne Westwood has been another terrific experience. For thirty years she’s been one of the leaders of British design and her clothes have been exhibited in the V&A Museum - I think that says it all !”
Martin is no less enthusiastic. He tells TMR: “Setting up Gift Atelier is a dream come true. We have toyed for years with the idea of starting a business. We even tried making jams at one stage! Then the idea took shape. We saw what people really enjoyed buying and receiving as special gifts, not just at Christmas, but for birthdays, anniversaries, and just sometimes to say ‘Thank you’ or ‘You’re wonderful’. Friends were very encouraging and slowly Gift Atelier was formed.
“We sourced the most delightful gifts we could find and also commissioned some pieces of fine jewellery to make our range unique. Hopefully, we now have the best the luxury market can offer for men, women and the home, but at prices people can afford, given that the UK and other places are working their way out of recession. We have priced our gifts to suit most purses: from £12 for organic lip balm to £495 for the most sumptuous cashmere blankets.”
