The Weird World of Blowfly Both Poignant and Scatological

By , Editor
If you don't know who Blowfly is, you've led a pathetically sheltered life. Or you're young, or something.

"Blowfly," the world's filthiest rapper, is the alter ego of respected Miami R&B mainstay Clarence Reid, 69, who wrote smash hits for Betty Wright, Gwen McCrae, KC and the Sunshine Band, and others in the '60s and '70s.

The Weird World of Blowfly documentary follows Reid/Blowfly around for two years and tells the story of his life, the sadly typical tale of being screwed out of royalties, his recording of the world's first rap record in 1965, and more bizarre oddities of time, space, and the recording industry.

The trailer below has a few vulgarities but in no way reflects the filthy torrent that is Blowfly in action.
