Cee Lo Green and Adam Levine Meltdown As The Voice Season Finale Looms

By , Contributor
It wasn't the first time that Maroon Five's Adam Levine has been caught singing karaoke - who among us will ever forget his steamy rendition of Marvin Gaye's "Let's Get In On" at the bar at Miami's Shelbourne Hotel last fall, his soulful crooning punctuated by the popping of iPhone shutters as fans recognized him. Then there was the time he sang Al Green's "Let's Stay Together," and chided a girl for standing in front of the screen because he didn't know the lyrics.

Maybe that's why it shouldn't come as that big a surprise in this last week before the season finale of NBC's mega-hit of The Voice that "Coach" Levine went out of his way to protect his anonymity at Gaslite, a Los Angeles watering hole wearing a fake beard, a prosthetic nose, a flannel shirt and a hat before he grabbed a mic to sing karaoke.

What did come as a surprise was that Levine sang his own songs! The unsuspecting crowd largely ignored him, until he began singing his own "She Will Be Loved." "First he sang two songs in the disguise. Then he came out as himself, and the crowd went crazy! No one had any idea it was him until he started belting out Maroon 5 songs," a reveler explained to Star magazine.

As the season winds down, the pressure was also getting to another member of the Fab Four. Even though The Voice has only one more week to go, "Coach Cee Lo Green says it's one of the reasons he's dropping out of the Loud tour with Rihanna.  According to a report in the New York Times, Green announced he's leaving the summer tour partly because of commitments to NBC's reality singing competition, but also in preparation for a new album and a book.

"He always puts 100 percent into his work and with the requirements and time commitment to The Voice, on top of heading back into the recording studio and an upcoming book," Green's spokesperson says. "He feels that he wouldn't give his fans the show that they deserve." He just came to that realization yesterday? After all, Green joined Rihanna on the tour in early-June with performances in 17 cities in the U.S. and Canada. As for any revealing tweets? All he had to say at @CeeLoGreen was simply "I'm tired."
