In anticipation of the premiere of its new end-of-the-world sitcom, You, Me and the Apocalypse, on January 28, NBC has released a trailer and the videos below to promote the show.

NBC describes You, Me and the Apocalypse as "a bold adrenaline-fueled hour-long comedic drama about the last days of mankind."

"When the news is announced that a comet is on an unavoidable collision course with Earth, the most hilarious and unexpected chain of events imaginable is set in motion," the synopsis says. "Against a backdrop of apocalyptic chaos, an eclectic group of seemingly unconnected characters around the world begin to intersect in the most unexpected ways, resulting in a nonstop mix of action, romance and wit."

Headlining the cast is Rob Lowe, who plays Father Jude, a rebellious and foul-mouthed priest who becomes the 'devil's advocate' aided by his timid assistant, Sister Celine Leonti (Gaia Scodellaro). Other familiar faces include Jenna Fischer from The Office (US), who plays Rhonda, a mild-mannered librarian. Rhonda is ill-suited to the maximum-security prison she is sent to for a crime she didn't commit so she hooks up with Leanne (Megan Mullally), an unhinged white supremacist.

You, Me and the Apocalypse also has a UK connection in the character of Jamie (Mathew Baynton), a bank manager from Slough whose life has stagnated since his wife mysteriously disappeared seven years ago.

"There are 34 days until the comet collides with Earth, and some of these misfits are destined to make it to a bunker deep beneath the English suburbs of Slough," says NBC's official description. "As a result, they will become the incredibly unlikely, and totally unsuitable, future of mankind. Wouldn't that be a disaster!"

You, Me and the Apocalypse premieres on NBC on Thursday, January 28 at 8/7c.
