Earthquake Felt in Virginia - Just Now

By , Columnist

U.S. Geological Survey confirmed that an earthquake occurred in central Virginia at 1:53 p.m. It has been felt throughout the D.C. metro region and where I'm sitting 100 miles away.

According to the Virginia Tech Geology Department, the largest damaging earthquake (magnitude 4.8) in the seismic zone occurred in 1875, with today's rumble breaking a seismic record for the area.

As the Pentagon is being evacuated, the rest of us are sitting at our desks trying to find ways to use a 6.0 magnitude to get out of work for the rest of the week.
