NYC to Shut Down Mass Transit System Saturday at Noon

By , Editor
Despite misgivings in the scientific community that New York City might NOT be the center of the universe, concerns about Hurricane Irene are such that officials made plans to shut down Gotham's leviathan subway and bus system beginning at noon on Saturday, Gov. Andrew M. Cuomo said today.

Rail lines that serve Long Island, Westchester County and Connecticut will also be shut down. So, car or bicycle seem to be your choices for Big Apple transpo, with car seeming less prone to buffeting and saturation.

Meanwhile, Mayor Michael R. Bloomberg ordered mandatory ejaculation - shoot, I mean "evacuation" of coastal areas in Brooklyn, Queens and Staten Island, Battery Park City, and the financial district in Lower Manhattan.

We can only hope that the storm does not live up to this level of preparation.
