Yahoo Has Never Recovered from Dotcom Bust

Bartz bonked by phone

By , Editor
More than a decade after the dotcom bubble burst, shooting shards of dismay into domains formerly accustomed only to giddiness, erstwhile Internet champ Yahoo has yet to recover. It's no longer a search company. Is it a media company? Is it a tech company? Is it a service company?

No one seems to know; and despite a still massive readership of over 600 million unique visitors and an expanding online ad market, its revenues and stock have remained flat. Yesterday chief executive Carol Bartz was fired after a middling two-year reign.

According to reports, Bartz was traveling from NYC to Maine when she recieved the Dear John phone call from Yahoo board chairman Roy Bostock. CFO Timothy Morse will serve as interim chief executive.
