Divorcing Your Wife When She Has Alzheimer's is A-OK

...at least according to old fogey Pat Robertson.

By , Columnist

Pat Robertson, religious broadcaster and host of The 700 Club (the long-running talk show of the Christian Broadcasting Network) has some relationship advice I just can't wrap my head around.

Pat, a one-time Republican presidential candidate, fielded a question from a viewer about what advice the man should give to a friend ("friend," riiiiiight) about seeing a new woman after his wife had begun to suffer from Alzeihmer's.

His response? "I know it sounds cruel, but if he's going to do something, he should divorce her and start all over again, but make sure she has custodial care and somebody looking after her."

So much for "til death do us part!" But Pat has an answer for that, too. He said that Alzeihmer's "is a kind of death."

Well, good to know that when I start to suffer from an incurable neurological disorder, it's OK for my husband to ditch me to diddle with a new lady (so long as he assigns someone to watch over me!) because Pat Robertson said so. Glad we cleared that one up.
