Twentieth Century Fox Home Entertainment has announced that the Academy Award-winning The Revenant will be available for early purchase in the Digital HD format on March 22. Fox will follow that with an April 19 release on 4K Ultra HD, Blu-ray, and DVD.
The Revenant is one of 2015's critics' darlings and a worldwide box office hit ($404 million so far). It received 12 Oscar nominations and wound up snagging three statues. As predicted by most everyone, Leonardo DiCaprio finally won Oscar gold. His Best Actor award comes 22 years after his first nomination (What's Eating Gilbert Grape?). Director Alejandro González Iñárritu won Best Director (he won last year, too, for Birdman). As if back-to-back wins wasn't impressive enough, Revenant cinematographer Emmanuel Lubezki won his third consecutive Oscar (the previous two were Birdman and Gravity).
More info to follow, regarding special features to be included on Fox's The Revenant releases.
