One of the most treasured photographs in my study is a black and
white picture of the wetlands in the south of England signed by photographer
Linda McCartney whom I met at an exhibition of her photographs.
As talented as
she was unassuming, Linda was a pleasure to talk to. It was through photography
that she met her future husband, Beatle songsmith Paul McCartney when she
appeared, camera in hand, at a launch
party for Sgt Peppers Lonely Hearts Club Band in 1967.
Thirteen years after her death Paul McCartney and their children have selected more than 300 photos of her extensive archive to produce 'Linda McCartney: Life in Photographs' (Taschen, $69.99.) The 288-page coffee table book is an intimate history of the McCartney family and a candid, fly on the wall look at rock and roll legends like Jimi Hendrix, Michael Jackson and the Rolling Stones.
