You’ve seen the photo galleries, you’ve seen the reviews (which, I’m excited to find, are all looking positive!), and now, just a few hours short of the series premiere, The Morton Report brings you a sneak peek at the new series taking flight tonight.
Pan Am, sharing Mad Men’s oh-so-retro coattails with the newly-minted NBC series The Playboy Club, chronicles the high-flying, corset-wearing adventures of the Pan Am stewardess who made the skies such a famously friendly place to be.
According to a group of real-life
Pan Am stewardesses brought together by AOL TV, the series is extremely
realistic, as it shows all the most significant benefits (and curses) of being
one of the most idolized and, in many ways, empowered female figures in 1960s culture.
The only inconsistencies? The uniforms are a little too blue for Pan Am standards, and the real stewardesses were all mandated to wear hair styles the fell just above the jaw line and no longer. You know when even the women on whose lives the show is based both praise its accuracy and assure us they’ll be watching it, the people behind the scenes are definitely doing something right.
So you can join me and every other retro-enthusiast at 10pm ET tonight to watch Christina Ricci, Margot Robbie, Karine Vanasse, and Kelli Garner dazzle in Pan Am blue alongside Michael Mosley and Mike Vogel. Just be sure to check your local listings before you get too excited to tune in tonight - thanks to the racy nature of some of the show’s content, some ABC affiliates have opted not to air this retro romp.
See you in the friendly skies!
